Water Report Cover Contest

As a Water Ambassador for the Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association, the Town of Normal recognizes the importance of increasing public perception, knowledge and education about the importance of water in our community. 

 As part of these efforts, in 2024, the Town is hosting the first-ever Water Cover Art Contest for its Annual Water Quality Report. The goal is to engage students and increase outreach surrounding water conservation and other educational topics.  

Submission theme: What Water Means to You

Submission Guidelines

  • Contest open to children in grades 3–5
  • 8.5” x 11” Unlined, regular computer paper (No construction paper)
  • Colored pencils or markers preferred
  • Artwork must be completely original (No tracing, photography or computer generated artwork)
  • On back of hard copy label your art with your school, name, grade and classroom (if applicable)
  • Parent/Guardians must complete release form
  • All submissions must be received by 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9

Voting

  • Artwork is judged on creativity, originality and correlation to the contest theme
  • Town of Normal employees will pick top submitted designs. Community members will vote on the top five finalists via Town social media. Normal employees will then choose the top two entries and Town of Normal Council Members will pick the winning entry.
  • Social media judging begins Monday, Feb. 19

Contest Prize

  • Contest Winner receives:
    • $100 Gift Card (Winner will be given three choices to pick from)
    • Artwork will be featured as the cover for the 2024 Town of Normal Annual Water Quality Report.
    • Artwork will be framed and given to the winner and/or the student’s school
