Responsibilities

The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for the coordination of orderly growth and development in the Town of Normal through enforcement of the Zoning and Subdivision codes.  

Anyone contemplating a development, zoning map amendment, zoning variance or the like should strongly consider attending a Development Committee meeting, which includes all Town staff involved with development issues. The Development Committee meets every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Contact the Town Planner in advance to be put onto the agenda.

 The Planning Department also acts as the principle administrator for the Town's 
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

Development Plans

The Town Planning Department is responsible for overseeing the implementation of approved development plans such as the Comprehensive Plan 2040 and the Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan. See all approved and draft plans.
