Housing & Code Enforcement

Responsibilities

The Town annually inspects and licenses apartments, rooming houses, duplexes, single-family rentals, mobile home parks and hotels and motels. Combined these inspections cover more than 1,200 buildings and 8,000 units each year. Annual inspections are meant to assure the buildings and dwelling units meet the basic life safety requirements of the International Property Maintenance Code.

Inspectors also proactively address code enforcement matters that include illegal parking, inoperable or unlicensed vehicles, accumulation of trash or debris, weed growth, graffiti, illegal sign placement, and a variety of other exterior property maintenance issues.
