Martin Luther King Park History

In 1974, 4 acres of land off North Towanda Road was named Bicentennial Park in a public “Name the Park” contest. The land included a playground and a soccer field. In April 1988, the park was renamed after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The dedication was made by Mayor Paul Harmon in honor of the civil rights leader. During the ceremony, a symbolic tree planting of an Ash tree on behalf of the Black Greek Alliance took place.

Located at: 210 N. Towanda Ave.
