When tragedy strikes, friends and loved ones gather for support. It should be the same with sexual violence. But all too often, survivors who have the courage to tell someone what happened are blamed instead of comforted.
This needs to change.
On April 4th, 2018 Normal Police Department and McLean County State's Attorney's office launched “Be The Change”, a public awareness campaign that urges the public to stop placing blame on victims of sexual assault. The PSA shares firsthand the impact of sexual violence, as told through the courageous words of 3 survivors.
