MISSION: We provide citizens and visitors with a clean, safe, well-managed, fiscally sound and environmentally pleasant community.
The Normal Parks and Recreation department employs 33 full-time staff and over 500 part-time and seasonal employees. The department maintains a wide variety of recreation facilities including 19 municipal parks that span 700 acres of open space. Constitution Trail is a hard surface trail through the Twin Cities that spans over 45 miles.
Additional facilities include two aquatic centers, an eight-field lighted baseball and softball complex, an outdoor amphitheater, a municipal golf course, a community center and a safety town highlighting road safety.
The Department also provides and manages over 400 individual recreation programs that serve in excess of 10,000 people annually. Programs include aquatics, before and after school programs, cultural arts, adult fitness, teen programs, youth and adult sports.
